Minister of Mineral Resources and Director of Mines visit the Koidu Kimberlite Project

Following formation of the committee to oversee the resettlement process, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Alhaji Abubakarr W. Jalloh, the Director of Mines, Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara, the Government Mining Engineer Kono District, Jonathan Sharkah and other officials from the Ministry of Mineral Resources paid a visit to the Koidu Kimberlite Project on Saturday 19 July 2008.

Koidu Holdings secures Tongo Diamond Field Project Mining Lease
In a letter from the Director of Mines dated 11 July 2008, Koidu Holdings was formally notified that its application for a mining lease over the 88.6 km2 Tongo Diamond Field Project had been approved by the Minister of Mineral Resources. The Company completed the exploration and bulk sampling program in accordance with the obligations set out in the Exploration Licence and immediately commenced with mining feasibility studies. The results of these studies indicate that a dyke mining operation would be economically viable, despite the narrow dyke widths. The mining lease is for a period of 25 years and includes diamonds, gold and base metals.

Koidu Holdings commits 105 million Leones to the rehabilitation of the Tongo Hospital

On moderate but momentous ceremony held in the Panguma Court Barray on Thursday 7 February 2008, the Tongo Diamond Field Project Manager of Koidu Holdings, Dino Coutinho, presented a cheque of 30 million Leones on behalf of the Company to the Chiefdom Mining Committee for onward presentation to Paramount Chief Alimamy Farma V of the Lower Bambara Chiefdom and Honourable Member of Parliament for ward 14, Francis Konowa, for the commencement of rehabilitation work on the old NDMC hospital in Tongo.

Ministry of Mines visits Koidu Kimberlite Project

On Saturday 20 October 2007, a 13-man delegation led by the Permanent Secretary, George Pessima, the Director, Alimamy Rashin Wurie, the Mining Engineer, Jonathan A Sharkah and the host Paramount Chief of Tankoro Chiefdom, Paul Ngaba Saquee V, visited the Koidu Kimberlite Project to acquaint themselves with the activities of the Company and at the same time discuss with its management the contentious issues of the resettlement programme, the blasting exercise, Illicit Diamond Mining (IDM) and other issues.
